The Underground All Ages gigs return to the Zoo Club this Sunday, and I have to say that I got damn excited when I heard the lineup; Chemical Addiction, 23 and 20BullsEach.

Quite frankly, I couldn’t believe that three of my favourite bands would be taking to the stage on the same day. And now Ibulls5.jpg can’t believe that I have to announce the unfortunate news that 20BullsEach have had to post-pone their return to Kilkenny.

Unfortunately 20BE frontman Gar has pneumonia, and under doctors orders the Bulls have had to pull out from Sundays gig. This is disappointing to say the least but I’ve been assured that the lads will be hitting Kilkenny once Gar is back at full health (Get Well Soon!).

The Dublin hardcore punkers are set to release their new E.P ‘Minimum Wage/Maximum Rage’ in the coming weeks and I’ve already got my hands on rough mixes of the tracks which sound awesome! More on that at a later date but for now back to Sunday.

ca8.jpgI ‘m not sure if a replacement band has been found to fill the slot yet, but even with the departure of 20BullsEach it’s still going to be a gig you don’t want to miss!

Local grungers Chemical Addiction will be taking to the stage to get a warm-up gig under their belts before the release of their debut ‘The Brian Jones E.P’. However, due to being bogged down with college work (and I know the feeling) sticksman Ciaran “Ciwi” McCarthy won’t be playing. Instead Danny and Ben will be joined by none other than KKM Engineer Alan Dawson.itf13.jpg

Daw has been working with the lads for the past few months engineering and producing ‘The Brian Jones E.P‘, so who better to fill in for Ciwi!? I’ve also had the pleasure of getting my hands on a copy of the final mixes and what a pleasure, it’s sounding great! But, once again more on that at a later date, for now back to Sunday.

I’ve said it several times on the blog and on the Sound System Podcast, 23 rock!!! The Dublin hardcore 23-14.jpgmetallers (featuring former Clergy guitarist Barney) completely blew me away last time I saw them in Kilkenny;

“They erupt into their first song, which is just like the next 11 songs. Their entire set is fast, frantic, chunky and extremely tight. It’s a powerful display of confidence from four guys who sure as hell know what they’re doing.

23’s songs are filled with chunky, catchy riffs and pounding drums. It’s hard to take photos because I keep nodding my head to the riffs and beats. The small crowd love it all. Each song is followed by roars. On stage, 23 are jumping around, dreads are flying everywhere. It’s a pleasure to listen to and shoot this band…”read23-6.jpg more

The last time the lads were down they sure as hell didn’t get the crowd they deserved so I can only hope they will this Sunday.

I have no doubt that 23 (who rock!) and Chemical Addiction (who also rock!) is gonna be one of my favourite gigs of the year and a great return for the Underground gigs. DON’T MISS IT!!! Any news or updates and I’ll keep you posted.
