Kilkenny 3-piece grunge outfit, Chemical Addiction, were back in the studio with Daw over the weekend to record more tracks for their highly-anticipated upcoming debut offering; ‘The Brian Jones E.P’.

Firstly, I have to offer a huge apology to Ben, Danny and Ciwi. Being so busy over the last few weeks meant I got all myca4.jpg dates mixed up and as a result I missed out on being in the studio with the guys this time around. This was pretty annoying for me because last time I was in the studio with Chemical Addiction was a pure pleasure. It was a great laugh, a great experience to see how much they’ve progressed since I shot their very first gig back in February 2005, and it was a privileged sneak preview into a recording that will certainly turn some heads in 2008. (Actually, even writing about missing out on the second recording session is pissing me off!)

ca6.jpgWord from the Chemically Addicted (they’re not really!) is that the second studio outing was another success. The lads were once again well prepared and again managed to record one more track than originally planned for. They’ve added an old song, “Tomorrow” to the track-listing. The song was written by Ben a few years back and he takes over on lead vocals. It even features spur-of-the-moment backing harmonies from Daw.

They’ll hit the studio one last time this week to finish laying down the vocals on “California Hill-Billy Suicide” and over the next few weeks I’ll be meeting up with Chemical Addiction to sort out the artwork for the E.P. The ideas so far are pointing at the front cover containing a homage to Brian Jones, a founder of the Rolling Stones and chemical-addiction.jpgmember of the “27 Club”. With a re-enactment of one of the best known iconic music images of all time on the back, only done the Chemical Addiction way!

I’m hoping to get a sneak-preview of the early song mixes over the next week or so, and as soon as I’ll do I keep people posted on how it’s sounding. But for now, just in case you’ve missed out on all my earlier plugs; swing by the Chemical Addiction myspace profile and have a listen to the title track, the 2 minute 38 second gem that is “Brian Jones“.
