A very metal T party

Myself, the Chief and Mickey Boo hit the back room in Cleeres on Friday night, for the birthday celebrations of Atrax Mantis voKILList T.

For anybody not in the know; T is probably one of the nicest guys you can meet. Don’t be fooled by his wide selection of metal t-shirts with vulgar slogans, the “I’m gonna rip your head off and perform sexual acts on it” look on his face or by the unbelievable growls and roars when he’s on stage. He really is just a big softy, as I witnessed when his eyes lit up at the sight of his “choo-choo train” birthday cake (not very metal!).

Aside from Atrax Mantis, T also runs Kilkenny Metal Promotions and puts on monthly gigs featuring various metal acts from around the country. So it wasn’t surprising that the dimly lit back room was filled with a variety of metallers and music heads, KKM forum regulars, with members of bands like Crucifracture, Itchy Trigger Finger, Slave Zero and Blue Meryl in attendance.

As expected it was a “very metal” occasion, a night of heavy drinking, the usual 21st traditions and some random madness. I also have to point out that the party more than catered for vegetarians! Which isn’t very common! But T is obviously aware of the Veg-Metal scene. I must also warn people that Mickey Boo and egg sandwiches is a vicious combination, he seems to instantly transform the tasty food into a lethal gas.

Highlights of the night would include; gagging over Boo’s various gas leaks, seeing somebody snort beer up their nose, then drop it into another glass only to be drank by somebody else!? A “pants-less party”, which is exactly what it sounds like! There was also a situation involving handstands, a dartboard and throwing knifes!? And how can I forget the worlds sickest birthday card ever!? I don’t think I should even go into details about some of the images used, but I have to say well done to Guilly and company for creating what is quite possibly one of the sickest things I’ve ever seen. (Very metal!)

Over the next few months myself and Daw will be working with Atrax Mantis on various projects including their upcoming E.P and a seriously violent music video, but for now all that’s left for me to say is one more belated Happy Birthday T, dude you’re a legend!”
