Things are picking up in college and the workload is starting to grow. Today we were finally given the brief for our end of year thesis, meaning I’ve now got two weeks to figure out what the hell I’ll be doing it on. I’ve also got a video project,
a cultural sociology project and an entire PR campaign to get working on, with plenty more projects to come.
The PR campaign is going to involve the street team which I’ve mentioned before, once the project is finished then I’m hoping to pretty much apply the groups work and actually launch the KilkennyMusic
street team for real. So I’ll be keeping people posted on the progress and asking for feedback, opinions and suggestions as it moves along.
But for now, I’ve got a question about something else. When I bought my Nikon D80 at the start of the summer it was shipped from France. The only problem I had was that the manual was in French, so I’m still a little unsure about some of the features. I’m hoping somebody has a D80 or can at least tell me what to
do here. When I upload pictures from my camera onto my computer they are labeled e.g DSC_0001.JPG, I then delete the photos from my camera. I recently noticed that my camera is then resetting back to zero so the next picture I take is also DSC_0001.JPG and so on.
Does anybody know how I can change the settings so the number continues instead of resetting?

03|Oct|2007 1I’m stuck using a Finepix s7000 so this is a long shot but; you could try the hardware and software forums on deviant art
( http://forum.deviantart.com/ )
or find someone on there with the same camera that you could PM?

03|Oct|2007 2The problem would be easier to fix on the computer. What computer are you using? In iPhoto you can manually set the names of an album to what ever you want which means you wont have duplicate image names.

04|Oct|2007 3It’s on the menu… I’ll show it to you later (plus, I emailed you a manual in English, PDF format if you look through your gmail!). For me it’s on the tool menu (the one with the spanner) and look for ‘File Number Sequence’ or ‘File No. Sequence’ or something similar - options are OFF, ON, RESET, leave it to ON.

05|Oct|2007 5I’d hope I would, been shooting Nikon cameras for 5-6 years anyway. At least I’d hope to know the way around my own camera! Been on the D70 for over three years now, love it to bits.

05|Oct|2007 6That’s not a bad idea James! If I don’t find the solution I might try the forums on DA but I’ve been gone off there well over a year.
Ray, I’m using a PowerBook G4 and upload to iPhoto which isn’t a problem with the labeling, but once I take them out of iPhoto the numbers become a problem. I might try labelling them as I upload but at the same time I’d like to actually know how many pics I’ve taken on the camera.
As for you McGuire, I’ll have a look for that Manual! Cheers!
