Myself, Ken, Daw and Boo were at the official launch of the 2007 Rockfall Festival, in the brewery last night. KKM will be providing coverage of the festival, which has been extended to six days this year, and takes place over the October
bank holiday weekend.
There’ll be everything from a table quiz, a cinema night, gigs from the likes of the Swinging Blue Cats (who played at the launch), Saving J and more with all the proceeds going to charity. I’m also delighted to announced that the Devious Theatre Company have come on board this year and we’ll be back FOR ONE
NIGHT ONLY in Cleeres Theatre with Heart Shaped Vinyl. It’s for a great cause and we’re giving Kilkenny one last chance to see the show before we take it on the road next year.
After the launch we moved down to Morrisseys bar, joined by the lads from Chemical Addiction and Peter from the Thermal Detonators, to catch Chris Walsh (Ghost Town) and Andrew McGuinness, for some acoustic covers. The 2nd time we’ve been down to see the lads and of course shout abuse at Andrew’s
shirts! Daw joined Chris onstage for a few songs and myself, Boo and Ken provided back vocals from behind our table covered in pints.
Today is one of the greatest days ever, it’s ‘Hug a Vegetarian Day‘. If you’re a veggie or know one then get out there and do some hugging people!
If you want to hug me, then tonight we’re heading to Cleeres to catch Clive Barnes. Doors open at 9pm, it’s tickets only so if you haven’t got them yet then you might be out of luck. I’ve been looking forward to hearing him live, having had a chat with him a few weeks ago I’ve decided, he’s a bit of a legend! And hopefully I’ll be uploading shots of him in the KKM Galleries next week.![]()
For anybody reading this from Cork, and there’s a couple of you according to my stats, then make sure and head down to the Purgatory Club tonight to catch Itchy Trigger Finger in action.
Tomorrow morning at 10am in the Ormonde Hotel is the very first PodCamp Ireland. The “new media community unconference” is a one day event full of talks and workshops for anybody
interested in new media, podcasting, blogging, and social networks.
It’s a non-technical day as far as I know (I hope), teaching people about podcasts, promotion and much more. I have to stress that this is a FREE EVENT so if you have an interest or you’re a musician, an artist or a business man, you really should come along and join us.
Then tomorrow night, I’m hoping people will join me in the Zoo Club on Parliament Street to check out the Hardcore
Punk Night. Dublin punks 20BullsEach return to Kilkenny, after touring in the US this summer. They’re joined by NineIXLives (who you can hear on SoundSystem Podcast 24), Murdock (who you can hear on Sound System Podcast 25) and the Thermal Detonators who recently entertained the crowds at this years Battle of the Bands. Doors open at 9pm and I can’t wait for this gig.
I’m not too sure whats going on Sunday, apart from a hangover. I could be doing a photoshoot or else I’ll be making my way up to the Air Concert to shoot that. Either way, I’ll keep you posted.

28|Sep|2007 4I’m not actually involved in any of the organisation of it, but you should give Andy Whelan a shout and say it to him to sort you out with a pass.
