cathedral-night-2.jpg
It’s been a long time since I actually picked up my camera and tried to do something different, from my usual shots. So many band and gigs shoots and I was getting lazy when it came to learning. Last night I decided, it’s time to get off my ass and start learning again. So as the winter nights are drawing in and it’s getting dark and cold, I figured I would try out some night photography.

So here’s my first attempt and I’m still trying to figure it out but I’ll be posting more blogs as I progress. I’d really likestreetnight1.jpg feedback on these blogs, whether it’s tips and advice or criticism, and what people like or don’t like. I’ve been testing shooting on low shutter speeds to capture the light made from traffic and then some shots on buildings lit up at night.

I’m also adding a photographers category on my links, I’ll be recommending cathedral-night-1.jpgother photographers who catch me eye. If you want me to check out your work then let me know! For now here’s my first recommendation, the Chief, who just launched his new photoblog, Ken McGuire Photography, last week.

Ken is my “go to guy” when it comes to any questions I have about photography. Although I must admit he usually confuses me with his answer. “But that’s just because I’m a lot smarter than you!?” he usually explains as he notices the glazed over confused look in my eyes.

He was also generous enough to give me his camera for nearly a year when Istreetnight2.jpg couldn’t afford to buy my own. Clever and generous, (no wonder he’s currently being stalked!?) he’s a dab hand at the old black and white photography and he’s first on the list!

Hopefully he’ll also have some feedback for me on these shots. I just hope he keeps it simple!? As for you, please say what you want; feedback, criticism or tips.
