It gives me great honour to announce that the KilkennyMusic.com Gallery now holds 1000 photographs!!! KilkennyMusic.com celebrates its 2nd Birthday this Wednesday, and what a great two years it has been for us. But as the Resident Photographerdaw-and-kenmc.jpg this announcement makes me very proud!

Of course, not all the shots in there are mine, I know Ken and Daw have shots in there, possibly a few other people!? But, I can safely say over 90% of photos in the galleries are my work.

It was just two months after KKM launched back in 2005, when the Chief asked me if I’d be interested normal_sililoquay.jpgin coming on board. I was just really beginning to get into photography and although I hadn’t really shot any gigs or bands before, I was delighted with the offer and the challenge.

Two years has really flown by and I’ve had the privilege of working with and shooting hundreds of bands and musicians. Many of them can be seen in their very own KKM galleries; bands like Clergy, who are no longer together but left their imprint in the kilkenny music scene for years to come. Right up to some offinal101.jpg the best bands Kilkenny has to offer today, the likes of Itchy Trigger Finger, Slave Zero and this years Battle of the Bands winners Atrax Mantis.

I’ve also provided photographic coverage of the KKM acoustic nights; the One Take Sessions, there’s the Lord of the Drums showcases in 2006 and 2007, as well as coverage from the heats and finals of the Battle normal_lord_of_the_drums_1.jpgof the Bands in 2006 and 2007. You’ll find various galleries for the SoundSystem Podcast, behind the scenes at KKM, our nights out, our roadtrips and the Irish Blog Awards 2007. There’s also some other projects that we got involved with throughout the two years.

Personally I’m happy that the quality of my work has improved considerably throughout this time and has been used on numerous band websites, myspace and bebo profiles as well as several E.Ps and albums. It’s also good to know that my work provides a photographic history of the Kilkenny music scene over the lastthe-wrong-side-of-misery.gif two years and I’m hoping it will continue to grow in the coming years.

We’ve got two years experience behind us and we’re only getting started folks. The plans we have are for even bigger and better things to come. But, for now a huge thanks from me to all the bands and musicians who’ve used my work, and of course all the people who looked at it and left feedback (good or bad)! Now, why don’t you swing by the KilkennyMusic.com galleries and have a look at two years of the KilkennyMusic scene.
