It’s about time these two bands had their own albums in the KilkennyMusic galleries, and after last night’s gig with Original Lineup and Laminate, they’re finally in there.A change of venue for our Saturday night gigs saw us taking over the Loft upstairs in I.D.

Around 10.20pm saw the first band, Kilkenny rockers Original Lineup, take to the small stage. I had a bit of difficulty atol8.jpg the beginning trying to get shots of the 5-piece, as they were fairly on top of each other on the cramped stage. But thankfully the lads are known for rotating instruments during their set, with some members ol2.jpgswapping guitars and bass for drums depending on the songs. This allowed me to capture shots of each of the lads throughout their set which you can check out here.

Last time I shot Original Lineup was during the Battle of the Bands 2006 when the lads reached the final for the second time. Back then, I thought the lads had really improved since I had heard them before that, and last night they had once again taken it up a notch. A great set of original rock tunes with a few covers thrown in.

Next up on the small stage saw the return of Wexford alternative rockers, Laminate. They first made an appearance with us at the KilkennyMusic Xmas Bash 2006, and I’ve seen them twice since, in the Zoo and the night of the Irish Blog Awards 2007. One thing is for sure, you’re always guaranteed a good show when they take to the stage. And why should lastlaminate12.jpg night be any different!?

Another blindingly energetic set from the 3-piece, ridiculous heat in the loft as the crowd went crazy, and the usual display of spitting and on-stage acrobatics from frontman Derren Dempsey, making sure laminate13.jpgeveryone there had a great night. Always ones to finish differently, this time Johnny threw his bass in on top of Harvey and the drums, as Derren wedged his guitar between the amp and the ceiling, leaving it to feedback as Laminate walked, covered in sweat, off the stage to chat with the crowd. All of which can be seen here in their brand new gallery.
