Killing two birds with one blog…

Okay, so that title lies slightly. Firstly I’m not killing any birds, unless birds are birthday wishes, and even then technically I’m wishing three happy birthdays!?

First up is belated birthday wishes to the Chief, who celebrated his birthday last Thursday night at the 11th OneTake Sessions. And even then he wouldn’t take a full night off, he once again took to the OneTake stage and treated us to some old favourites. Many pints and a sing-a-long later we staggered to Morrissons for a late drink, where I once again forced him to drink some tequila.

Firstly I can only get him to drink tequila when he is celebrating something, secondly I can only get him to drink it when nobody else will drink anymore tequila with me, and thirdly (isn’t a word but I using it anyway) last year I made him lick salt off my chest after the shot, this year he declined, this adds to my fear that he may be getting too mature to hang out with the likes of me!?

And even after that last statement I attempt to bring some professionalism to this blog!?! Today is the first birthday/anniversary of my own photography site Oss237.com. There’s a nice big article on page 22 of the Kilkenny Voice this week.

In the past year my site has had over 10,000 hits, it’s had visitors from all over the world and it’s a great feeling to know people are looking at my work. It’s just over a year since I started trying to shoot bands and gigs, and thanks to my website and KilkennyMusic I’ve shot and worked with over 100 different bands and musicians from around the country since. In the past few months bands have used my shots on their albums, E.P’s, websites and there’s plenty more to come.

My one complaint is a lack of feedback, people leave comments saying they like my work but never why. Okay, even that’s a good complaint!? But my one wish today for anybody reading this blog: please swing by Oss237.com and leave some comments; if you like a picture then tell me why, if you don’t then please tell me why! Feedback is always appreciated.

Last but by no means least, a huge happy birthday to my long time friend Daw. Not to get all soppy on this one but the dude is a legend and one of my longest serving friends. Yeah, that makes it sound like being my friend could be some sort of punishment, and trust me it probably is sometimes!? But he takes it well! We’re like a mixture of Ryan and Seth, Tim and Mike, Pinky and the Brain, Jack Burton and the little chinese guy, and if you can get all those references then you’re probably Daw reading my blog!?

He’s never been one to be big on his birthday celebrations however, but I bring the big mouth to this tag-team, so swing by his blog, his myspace or his bebo and give him some birthday love!

Okay it’s been a while since I wrote a blog post but normal service is resuming, stay tuned for updates on what I’ve been working on, but in the meantime go and wish Ken, Daw and my website a Happy Birthday.
