Last night saw my first proper chance to really test out my new Nikon D80. I headed out to the new practice area with Itchy Trigger Finger and tested it on Daw’s brand new Sonor drumkit. The kit is huge and perfect for shooting, all shiny and white to reflect plenty of light.
This time last year, I used Ken’s D70 for the first time as himself and Daw recorded tracks for the Happy
Medium. The shoot became known as the Summer Sessions, just one of those many photoshoots last year, but everytime I look at those pics I remember the feeling of summer. The smell in the studio on those hot days and the refreshing taste of cold beer. The nights that shot by in a blur and nights of insomnia watching quiet sunrises.
Last summer I also did a shoot with the Devious Theatre Company as we prepared to launch our first ever production,
Heart Shaped Vinyl. The romantic comedy of sorts tells the story of five couples spread over five decades, and how music influences their lives and relationships. Now, we’re back in Cleeres Theatre in June for three more nights due to popular demand, before we unleash ‘Cannibal the Musical’ at everyone in August.![]()
This morning we did a shoot on a green screen for the new posters. This time around there’ll be five posters designed once again by Paddy Dunne. Each one dedicated to each couple, shot to pay homage to classic album covers or pictures from that era. With plenty of rehearsals, promo-shoots and aftershow parties planned for the summer I’ll be keeping you posted on how the shows are going and the Summer Sessions.
