Raisin’ the Sign at Rossification 2007

Last night saw my birthday celebration, we were calling it Rossification 2007, and like every year the usual hardcore friends shined through to help me leave a dent in the last Saturday night I would spend on the good side of 25.It started in the house, a couple of beers with Daw, listening to random flashback music and talking shite about getting old. Then down to the Widows (I know it’s called I.D now but I’m old and I’ll always call it the Widows) for some Jack Daniels as we waited for the usual suspects to arrive for the annual liver bashing.

KilkennyMusic was out in force last night with MickeyBoo suitably dressed in his “Rehab is for Quitters” t-shirt and the Chief buying me pitchers of beer, who needs a glass?! With forum regulars such as T and Beatnik present, Jimmy Trigger and Robbie from Itchy Trigger Finger, aswell as a few more, the drinking began. A couple of rules enforced for the night, you have to drink your bodyweight before you can leave (Jimmy drank water?!), tequila is the shot of choice, salt and lemon are for pussies and if you wanna get in a picture you better be raisin’ the sign!

What followed was drunken mayhem, conversations were fast and loud, mainly ending in some tough guy one-liner shouted in bad texan accents. The new bouncer watching nervously as we went nuts, he had been informed that we were allowed get out of control. Tequila was guzzled like it was water, in Jimmy’s case it was. Anybody who came within drinking distance was dragged into the conversations and photos, angry guys, hot girls, American Tourists, anybody.

The night flew by in a blur of random moments, I woke this morning feeling alot better than I expected to feel. I also have a brilliant collection of photos capturing the whole night. When I look over the pics and struggle to remember last night, I see myself surrounded by hardcore friends who have been with me through some of the worst shit life had to offer, and the fucking great times we’ve had together aswell. Its not too bad getting old with friends like these.

With talk of grabbing an Indian and some Cobra beers before tomorrow nights podcast recording, I’m naming it the RossCast seeing as tomorrow is actually my birthday. And the celebrations taking place in Carlow on Tuesday night, its a time-zone thing, so I have to celebrate it again up there, I’m definitely not finished celebrating yet! Maybe I’ll try get a ‘raisin the sign in Carlow gallery’ going on too?!
