I did a photoshoot last night with the Swingin Bluecats who’ve just finished recording their new E.P, they needed some shots for the cover and some live shots aswell.

double-bass.jpgSo off I went to Ryans pub on Friary Street, where they play every Tuesday Night, always happy to work with a new bandfrank.jpg and do something different. Much to my surprise the band was full of people I’ve seen in other pub bands around the town for years, namely Frank Salmon (Essaness Music) on the drums, Shinny (Big Guns) on saxaphone, Adrian Jackson (Tighrope, Agent Smith) on double bass. Instead of covers or pub rock the Swing Bluecats play their own rhythm and blues whilst wearing the obligatory retro shirts and blue jeans turned up at the bottom.

When they release their E.P I’ll definitely be checkin it out. Anybody looking for something different to do on a Tuesday night, head down and check out the Swingin Bluecats in Ryans, its free in! There’ll definitely be a KilkennyMusic staff night out down there some night soon, so you’ve been warned.harmonica.jpg
