Over the past few months , I’ve been lucky enough to be around through most of the recording process for the Itchy Trigger Finger E.P ‘The Wrong Side of Misery’.
Last summer, the lads began recording demo tracks in the studio in our house and they have been working away ever since on brand new material, and breathing new life into other songs, bringing them up to date with ITF’s progressing sound.
Many nights I’ve popped my head in, to have a listen as things took shape, and watch Daw slave over the recordings. I’ve watched him adjust settings and do things which made no sense to me, but once he pressed play it became clear he knew what he was doing.
Tonight, I had the opportunity to listen to the latest version of ‘What have we done now’. As the recording process comes to the final stages things are falling into place. The song has really grown from the demo versions recorded last year. The basic structure is still there but it has been finely tuned.
The vocal’s still need to be added but the drums sound great, the kick gallops its way through the song, backed up by funky basslines and fills with slight changes in the tempo to the original version. When I hear the guitar I can’t help but laugh, remembering a conversation I had with Robbie in December, I was stressing over a looming management exam in college as he recorded solo’s. He turned and said “you see, you have to worry about management exams, I have to worry about kickass guitar sounds.” From what I’ve heard so far, he doesn’t have to worry, and neither do the ITF fans awaiting the E.P.
The Wrong Side of Misery will be released this summer followed by extensive touring around the country. I’ll be keeping everyone updated on the details and information as things get finalised. I’ll also be giving the track listing and details of the songs in the near future so stay tuned.
