About
About me eh? Well, what is there to say that hasn’t already been said in some circle somewhere…
Born the same day as Colin Farrell and Clint Eastwood, obviously not in the same year… that’d just be strange.
Born, bred, schooled and rared in Kilkenny, where I’m now living, breathing and working, I spent some glorious years working, living and studying in Waterford where I left in 2005 with a BSc in IT / BSc in Multimedia Applications Development which gave me enough insight to start Event Ireland with a close friend. Electronic ventures into the web - design, cms solutions, graphic production for web and print, online marketing - quite a broad spectrum indeed.
Keeping the work separate, I look after several blogs and sites, the most high profile of which would be Kilkenny Music which promotes musical growth in and around Kilkenny, linking local acts together with national acts, running gigs, providing recording services and a whole host of other thrills. Not only that but it houses a highly active community forum, photos from all our events since 2005, an ever growing database of artists, monthly feature articles, our crazy podcasts and more. But you already know all of that or should as you’re reading my KKM staff blog!!
Work never really stops.
In between, I blog, or take photos, or catch up on the football season - both as a Liverpool fan and an American Football fan.
I front a 3-piece alt.rock outfit called the Happy Medium, a musical adventure by all accounts. I love the theatre, film, anything with a bit of creativity and a bit of imagination. I sit on the board of directors of Young Irish Film Makers and spend some of my free time traveling between Kilkenny and Sligo (my second home I guess). I spend too much time online, and not enough time online. That or there simply isn’t enough hours in the day to get everything you want done.
I’m also the Technical Director (official title) of The Devious Theatre Company, established in May 2006. Our debut production (written, produced and directed in-house), Heart Shaped Vinyl, received fantastic reviews and will tour throughout 2007 while we bring Cannibal! The Musical to Ireland for the very first time in August of 2007. We are always looking for ways to innovate through theatre and will launch a series of audio plays, podcast-style, in 2007 while working on a series of writer and theatrical workshops and improv theatre nights.
I’m also a damn good cook - or so I’m told (and partly believe as well) and have a serious taste for foreign food - Italian, French, Chinese, Asian - anything but Irish!
Don’t be afraid to ask anything, you know yourself, whats the worst that he could say!
