The new season of the One Take Sessions (or so the Kilkenny Advertiser is calling it anyway) kicked off last night in Cleere’s. As is expected of a wintery night, the turn out was low, but the talent on offer was of a serious high standard yet again. Former Kilkenny resident Eamonn O’Connor opened up (delighted that his set was 25 minutes, considerably shorter than the 3 hours he’s become accustomed to), followed by Laois native Emer Dunne. Wexfordian Diarmuid Comerford took third spot on the bill, allowing enough time for his musical partner in crime, Conor Stafford, to arrive at Cleere’s to join him on stage.
Last but by no means least on the night was Kilkenny’s Jimmy Trigger (Itchy Trigger Finger), showcasing new tunes in ‘The Urge’ and ‘All I Ask’, treating everyone there to a near-complete version of ‘Our Gem’, almost a year to the day since performing it at the One Take Sessions last November 2nd.
The One Take Sessions return on November 15th with ‘Sessions favourite Jimi Cullen and newcomers Ro Tierney and West Of Eden.
