Tonight, or so I was told yesterday, marks the last Cracked Bucket Band gig of the summer. If you’re around and up for a bit of Irish trad fused with some sexy drumming and funky bass influences then drop in to Paris Texas tonight with music kicking off at 10pm.
Having only started playing with the band back in July of this year I think its been a great run. I wound up taking up the bass and getting stuck into that pretty quickly, another instrument I’m having a load of fun with. Myself and my brother, whom some of you know through Gigotos, replaced the previous drummer and bassist who had been with the band over the last three years. I’d like to think that we’ve added something new to the music and taken things up a notch. Reactions at the Wednesday night gigs have been great and it was a break in the week that I welcomed very much.
With tonight being the last night I’d hope that it isn’t the end of the band until next summer, there’s some great music in there and a seriously talented bunch of musicians, it’d be a shame to see it put on the shelf until next year.
To the band, to Paris Texas for having us, and to everyone who dropped in from near and far over the summer - cheers and thanks a million. Hopefully we’ll be able to do it again next year.
