The last of the funding allocated to KilkennyMusic.com under the Art Acts Grant for 2007 was laid down today, part breaking the €3,000 we were assigned earlier in the year.

Our purchase list reads something like the following - three new Shure SM58s, one new Shure SM57, two Sennheiser e606 mics, one AKG d112 mic, two AKG Perception 150 mics, some new XLR cables (total of about 10), some lighting gels (green / blue / orange) and the biggest of the lot being two HK Elias 115A bass bins to enhance the sound rig that we’re operating.

We’re going to have to explore some fundraising options for later in the year I feel. We have an additional €2,300 of equipment that we are seeking but given that we do everything for free (because we’re great), there isn’t a steady income stream to support the required €2,300. This additional figure is to allow us to purchase a small video camera, a small floor light, a single set of standing lights and some cases (protection of our outboard equipment, power amp, mixing desk etc.). Suggestions for fundraisers are being taken but of course if one was willing to sponsor KilkennyMusic.com in anyway (e.g. a sponsorship of the One Take Sessions) then we’re more than willing to listen to what you have to say.

Of course, the most important equipment purchase this year has been that listed above as funded by the Arts Office here in Kilkenny. We’re delighted that two years running we’ve been included on the grant award list and hopefully if we seek funding next year then we’ll be considered once again.

On that note I would like to thank once again Mary Butler, Niamh Finn and all at the Kilkenny Arts Office and those involved in the selection process at Kilkenny County Council. May we continue to live up to and exceed your beliefs both online and offline.
