So, I watched the Sopranos season six finale - after waiting over a year for the season to conclude after its FUCKIN MASSIVE break! Jesus! Anyway, it sure as hell didn’t disappoint thats to be certain, but one thing I do know is that I’m hooked on The Sopranos. I won’t go on about the finale in case it spoils it for anyone watching it on RTE… but damn!!
In the past week I’ve watched the last few episodes of season six, Sunday night I finished watching season one (having pulled about 7 episodes on the Sunday), while yesterday I started into season two - watching the first two episodes last night and the next two tonight. I’m already hovering over the ‘buy’ button for the Season 3 box set.
An old HBO special feature detailing the premiere of the second season of The Sopranos mentioned something iike ‘even seeing them in their evil ways you can’t help but see them for real people’… and thats part of the enjoyment of it as well. Meaningless tasks and small scenes are done so well, the smallest glimpse, the smallest motion - take Meadow’s extended effort of parking the car in the finale…. bwaaagh!!
As far as I can remember, I started into the Sopranos around the middle of season three, so picking up the first two box sets a week ago was a God send and the first series is an absolute cracker. Damn good seeing all the old storylines starting and all the old characters. Ahhhh… I’m just hooked.
Well disappointed that its over - its been a fantastic 8 years of TV (series one starting in 1999) but it will live on in DVD. Which means I’m gonna have to keep buying them. They’re a bargain at 27 bucks on CDWow.ie for each of the sets.
