She’s got to be flat broke or out of her fuckin’ mind but where do Barbara Streisand and her concert promoters get off charging up to €551.75 for PER TICKET for her show in Kildare in July?
I saw the TV ad at the One Take Sessions last night which said “tickets from €118.50 including booking fee”. Just to set the record straight, tickets are from €118.50 but are structured as follows…
Those prices according to the latest MCD.ie mailout. Ticketmaster don’t display any of the €118.50 variety so they’re either sold out or don’t exist but who in their right mind is going to fork out €551.75 for a ticket? At that, MCD are quoting prices as including the booking fee, but Ticketmaster are happily charging €6.35 per ticket as a booking charge, but thats something that pisses me off on an entirely different level. As if five hundred and fifty quid wasn’t enough.
My reckoning is that she’s flat broke.
That or pure greedy.
Sure enough, its her first European tour (five dates as the Austrians, French and English get to be ripped off as well across four dates) but at that price I’d say it will be her last. I’d want to be getting more than a little bit of loving to part with anything close to that price for a ticket.
Anyone out there actually mad enough to spend over half a grand on ONE ticket? Not exactly a family-friendly event now, is it? Considering I got to see Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen and Mark Knopfler in the last two years for under 250 quid over a total of around 8 hours of music, Streisand would want to be singing until the cows come home, have calves, raise them, watch them have calves, raise them in turn….
