I was down at the launch of the Cat Laughs comedy festival last night (same location as this one, same free beer too) and decided that this year I would actually make the effort to get some tickets to a few gigs. After pouring over the booklet for this year’s festival, I figured a €100 budget would be good for four days of comedy. Given that the festival actually runs Thursday through Monday and we’ve got the ‘Sessions on the Thursday night I’ve opted for four shows across Friday to Sunday.

Last year I managed to get to one show, PJ Gallagher with Paula Belle and Fred McCaule. Last time I’ll go to see that American woman ANYWHERE but PJ Gallagher was damn fantastic on stage, so much so that a few of us took him in in Langtons in December last year.

Anyway, I’ve booked the following…

  • Tommy Tiernan, Friday night, solo show
  • Jason Byrne, Andrew Maxwell, Nick Griffin, Fred MacAulay, Saturday evening
  • David O’Doherty, Saturday night
  • PJ Gallagher, Joe Rooney, Steve Hughes, Jeff Caldwell, Sunday evening

Have to say, the head is a tad bit on the worse for wear side this morning, with my stomach matching as well - damn Malibu! 12pm and starting to come around now, breakfast/brunch in the office over, on the way into the afternoon. Mind you,  would bloody well want to be coming around at this stage what with the Ground Of Ruin gig in Carlow tonight, another late one on the cards (though myself and Daw are working for it so its not too bad).

Still… all that comedy to look forward to! Anyone planning on going to anything?
