Looks like I spoke to soon! I’d heard the possible rumours about The Police playing Croke Park on October 6th. I grew up listening to The Police, playing along to The Police, buying CDs. Hell, the year I did the leaving cert (what, six, seven years ago?) Sting was on the composition part of the paper and made it a breeze for me.
If only I didn’t have two bloody electric picnic tickets sitting on my credit card!
Knowing that they would likely sell out EVERY stage of their world tour, the band have done what U2 did before Slane and many bands do nowadays - they set up a fan club online, that gives you the opportunity to get presale tickets. Now, this doesn’t mean you’ll GET the tickets, but you have the CHANCE to get the tickets. The cost? Another hundred bucks on top of what you might pay for your ticket.
A hundred quid? Sure who’s going to pay a hundred euro to access a message board? If you didn’t get your ticket then it’d be your tough shit, you take the gamble with your hundred quid. Of course, if there’s four of you looking to go to the gig, then why not, you’re allowed buy up to four tickets per concert per membership. At least it breaks down the cost. Must have a word in the ear of the rest of the KKM lads.
Ticketmaster are lacking details at the minute, but I’d expect the concert tickets to be anywhere in the region of 80 euro and upwards and I’d also expect them to be like gold dust once they hit the public - thats if there’s any left after presale!
Now, who said Friday the 13th was unlucky!
